Batiks in Sri Lanka

Batik Clothes in SL

Batiks are the clothes that are traditionally made by using a manual
wax-resist dyeing technique. It is an ancient art form. It existed in 4 th
century BCE in Egypt. This is a method of dyeing fabrics & sometimes
for papers in which some areas are covered with wax, glues, or
specially made produce to keep dyeing from penetrating the fabric.
It is doing normally by the wax or the other product is laid down in
a pattern. Then the paint is spread & has to allow it to dry. Then the
wax is removed. The area under the wax keeps its real color with an
occasional line of color giving it crackled look.

This is an art & a craft. This is very famous in Java, in Indonesia & all
south Asian countries. The process of this waxing & dyeing can be
repeated to create more elaborate & colorful designs. It has been a
rounded for many 100 years.

In Sri Lanka batik designs are very popular. 98% of the percentage from
the population is very familiar with these beautiful batik arts. Actually
these products are the kind of most beautiful arts in the world.

It is not an easy art. It gets long time for the end of the product.
This industry in Sri Lanka is a small scale industry. But it can employ
